Truly was the first horse that my granddaughter, Benay, fell in love with. She was eight and so much smaller than the horse that towered above her at over seventeen hands high. Her love for him was immeasurable - and it was mutual. Though she's a more seasoned rider and much taller at ten-and-a-half, her love for Truly of Scotsgrove Stables in South Carolina has only deepened. When my daughter, Heather Daniel, shot this image of Truly as he galloped around and around the practice ring, I knew I had to capture that power and fluidity of pure "poetry in motion." The gentle sway of the mimosa and its blossoms is such a beautiful symphony of green as a natural backdrop. The digital image is created with hundreds of individual layers of Bali Batiks which are produced by hand on the tropical island of Bali in Indonesia. The fabric is either painted by hand with dye, batiked or created with a combination of those processes. Each fabric batik is selected to capture the tone and texture of one...

Digital Artist/Graphic Designer Robin G. Morgan has been involved in the visual arts for over thirty-five years. She began her artistic journey as a school volunteer, before becoming an educational consultant, digital publisher, graphic designer, media developer, and middle/high school digital arts teacher. Fabric Melodies are created with scanned fabrics that are selected specifically for their extraordinary patterns. Using Photoshop, Ms. Morgan designs then constructs each digital image–layer by layer—before watercolor details are added. The process is repeated until each digital image is completed.
